SDOC agreed to pay all NON-Classroom 10+ Year Instructional Staff a FULL raise to match the other 10+ Year Classroom Teachers!

10-14 Years:

25% of state funds (approximately $2,100 each) as a recurring raise.

15+ Years:

75% of state funds (approximately $2,900 each) as a recurring raise.

This is thanks to your countless emails, Facebook comments, and attendance at bargaining and the school board meeting!

All ESPs and 0-9 Year Instructional Staff will receive a one-time, non-recurring 2% supplement.

The state did not provide ANY funds to pay ANY raises for these groups this year. This 2% comes from local funds, which cannot sustain permanent raises. BUT, if the proposed tax referendum passes in November, significant raises WILL occur next year!

OCEA has proposed that 80% of tax referendum money be allocated to salaries to include ESP and Instructional staff!

This tax increase is already on the November ballot. It adds $1 for every $1,000 of property. For a $250,000 house, this is an extra $250 per year in taxes. Our agreement guarantees that, if it passes, ALL staff receive a MINIMUM of an extra $1,000 per year in salary, with increases for experience ranging up to an extra $11,000 per year!

All Staff Will Benefit From Employee Safety and Protection From False Allegations with NEW Contract Language!

Our agreement guarantees protection for our staff. When facing violence from a student, administration MUST meet with the teacher before returning the child to their care; a safety plan MUST be put in place within 20 days; AND when allegations are proven false, a teacher can now easily request to have the student moved to a more appropriate setting.

All Staff Will Benefit From Extra Early Release FRIDAYS Before Long Holiday Breaks!

Teachers and staff always need time to clean, pack, plan, and prep in order to be ready to walk out the door for a long holiday. Our agreement guarantees that SDOC will run a Wednesday release schedule on the day before Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring breaks. (Hurricanes might change this No PLCs will be required, and staff will use the paid hour to take care of their classrooms.

All Instructional Staff AND NOW VPK Leads will benefit from Remote Planning Days!

Our MOU for Remote Planning Days at the end of each quarter has been renewed and expanded to include VPK Leads!

Insurance changes will move forward BUT…

Anyone who earned their Wellness Points in 2025-26 will receive FOUR (4) Half Days of Board Leave Time to use for appointments this year regardless of the health plan enrolled.

SDOC’s original bargaining proposal did decrease slightly in design changes.

Expanded Compassionate & Sick Bank Leave!

Previously, employees were required to take 5 unpaid days between the end of their personal sick leave and the beginning of sick bank leave. We agreed to REMOVE this waiting period and put 5 extra days of pay into the pockets of our employees facing the greatest hardships.
Additionally, compassionate leave now allows 40 days to be donated for each separate incident, a huge protection for members with significant hardships.

We are headed to Ratification!

In August, all ESP and Instructional employees will have the opportunity to vote to accept or reject this entire salary and benefits package. Use your voice to support your choice!
